Effortless Design
Collectively, we are experiencing of one of the most stressful and uncertain of times due to the widespread health crisis in the form of COVID-19. We, at Details of Design, hope that you are all staying safe and healthy. Since we are all having to quarantine ourselves you may be experiencing a bit of cabin fever and one good cure for cabin fever is to do a little redecorating. So, in anticipation that you may be craving some design inspiration our topic for today is “Effortless Design.”
Effortless design, that elusive quality of spatial harmony. Design which exudes an energy of peace and breathes like a sigh of relief and contentment. Many of us pour through our favorite home design magazines and wistfully dream about a look we hope to achieve.
Identify Your Style
Maybe it is that naturally comfortable vibe or a look of tailored sophistication that you desire. Perhaps it is a yearning for some rustic charm or an aspiration of stunning elegance. No matter what style your personality craves, chances are that what you are truly seeking is a look of effortlessness that speaks volumes about who you are in a tasteful and palatable manner.
Rules of Thumb
The great news is that you can achieve said look with a minimum of invested resources when you keep in mind several rules of thumb. Our new spring inspired store vignette is a wonderful point of reference to illustrate some of these design guidelines.
Inspiration
Our inspiration is a gorgeous oil painting of wind tossed marsh lands. This stunning work has a serene and peaceful color palette with just a hint of playfulness in the way the marsh reeds gently dance across the base of the picture.
Frame Your View
There is always a “view” that you are framing. Our inspiration piece is also the “view” that we are framing. We’ve paired it with our Ashed Swirl Console Table and framed it out with a set of deconstructed fabric and leather chairs.
Edit, Edit, Edit
Think like a minimalist. In our vignette the inspiration oil painting has a plethora of delightful colors from which to choose. However, matching all of them would be overwhelming. We have elected to focus in on the shades of teal, caramel and cream that appear in the painting as the primary colors for the décor. Sprinkling in a hint of several secondary colors keeps the look feeling fresh and active.
