Bold Colors That Really Pop

Where to start???  That’s always the question when it comes to refreshing a room, right?  Well, as we’ve discussed in previous posts it can be very helpful to start with an inspiration piece. To quote our very own Megan Reiley, Associate member ASID, “I love beginning a room with a piece of art. It allows you to complete an entire design with just one piece. It helps determine which lamp, which rug and which accessories complete your whole thought. It just works!” 

We love this gorgeous sailing painting (currently available and on display in our store if you want to see it in person) because it has some exciting splashes of color that will bring life and movement into any space. In this painting you have two bold colors (red & blue) vying for attention and then several lighter shades of blue and teal with white and a hint of gray playing throughout.
Our thrilling “Wide Sails” art would look phenomenal alongside of this Coastal Aqua and Blue Striped chair in a sitting room.
Refresh your space with a fresh coat of paint to provide a neutral backdrop and allow those bold colors to really pop! We would recommend a light and slightly warm base color like Harbor Gray (see reference for color match) and a refreshing and crisp trim color like Oxford White.
If you like more color, you may consider painting an accent wall or even an accent door in a soothing Riviera Azure or a bold jewel tone (Bermuda Turquoise or Million Dollar Red).
Layer in an eye-catching area rug like our Blue Water Rug for some texture and drama.
To quote Megan again, “I love pops of color. You can have everything else be neutral, but a pop of color makes the space exciting!”  So, let’s add in some eye-catching accessories that tie back into the turquoise and red bursts of color from our inspiration piece to finish off your look and…

Hopefully we’ve emboldened you to add some bold colors into your room refresh.  We, at Details, are excited to support you in your design endeavor.  Now that we are back open, after taking some time to do our own refresh with new paint, we are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces again and to meet some new faces.  Granted, there will be a little added mystery during this time of wearing face masks, but we are excited to see you none the less.
